I thought I could follow up on my earlier Prayer post, and talk a bit about my three greatest “aids” in Prayer.
1. My Rosary. I cant explain how much this has helped me in my Prayerlife. It was the rosary that made me a Catholic.
2. My 1962 Roman Catholic Daily Missal. Its a great resource for lots of different prayers, litanies and so on. (I also have a Norwegian prayerbook, which is great too)
3. The Bible. I have to admit,I do not read the Bible far as much as I should. Especially the Old Testament! I try do read i bit from it every day, but I dont. I use a Norwegian Bible, and an English translation (the Douay Rheims Bible).
So, what do you “use” to intensify your prayerlife?
Pax

I use shifts in the way I think. I find thinking “with God” about an issue is more meaningful than talking “to God” about it.
Like watching a movie with a friend is better than talking to him/her about it.
I like to pray the psalms, I like to use a prayer journal, and I enjoy a day in solitude and silence now and again. I also like to use the Lord’s prayer. I find that very helpful.
Peace,
Kevin
I like to play gegorian chant in the background while I pray.
I use the rosary but need to pray it more. I know that some of the most grace filled times in Steve’s and my life was when we prayed the rosary together often.
I also like to read stories of the saints in prayer. I find it encourages me to try and live like them.
The Rosary. I also have a prayercard which includes a thirdclass relic cloth of Vr. Mother Mary of St. Peter. I have a icon (printed reproduction of “Trinity”) but I seldom meditate on it. I also borrow a great booklet on the Rosary that I use some times (have used it two times) I’ll write more if I can think of something. I think it would be great to have a nice Blessed Virgin Mary statue to pray infront of.
I have the norwegian edition (not the catholic one) of the liturgy/prayers of the hours, and I try to read the daily readings, and I use a “setup” I have “designed” myself, from various sources.
I use a norwegian bible and sometimes an english language one, The New Jerusalem Bible.
I also use a small catholic prayer book. And I pray “free” prayers, and often pray for the people asking for it at DCF.
Great blog you have here! I regularly tries to formulate a group of prayers both of my own mixed with something from the Psalter or some classic prayer of Augustin’s or Thomas’ or so. I have one sheet for the morning and one for the evening. And I usually change them once every couple of months. Then I have a Swedish prayerbook and of course my Rosary. I truly love the rosary. Every Friday I read the Penitential psalms.
